Joe Campbell

Honea Path – Billy Joe Campbell, 76, husband of Virgie Nell Blair Campbell, of 3250 Keowee Rd, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Louis and Olivia Smith Campbell. He was a member of Little River Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. He had worked in the textile industry and was a founding member of the Keowee Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: three daughters, Theresa Campbell (Bobby), Linda Clary (Bruce), and Sherry Fleming (Greg), all of Honea Path, three brothers, Jim Campbell (Pearl) and Ed Campbell (Birtie), both of Belton, and Max Campbell (Shirley) of Honea Path, one sister, Sue Brock (Kenneth) of Honea Path, five grandchildren, Buffy Clary, Joey Clary (Torie), Derrick Clary (Hope), Jennifer Bagwell (Chris) and Heidi Campbell, four great-grandchildren, Terri Harris, Koda Clary, Aiden Kneece, Bayleigh Bagwell, and one family member he loved like a son, Ryan Branyon.

He was predeceased by a brother, five sisters, and a great-grandchild, Justice Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, March 7, 2014 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Fuller and Rev. Garrett Hart officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.  

The family is at the home of a daughter, 3244 Keowee Rd, and will receive friends 10:30-12 noon Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
