Avis "Al" Shubert

Honea Path – Avis “Al” Landon Shubert, 87, husband of Nan Sue Cooley Shubert, of 411 W. Hampton Ave., died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home.

Born in Pelzer, SC, he was a son of the late Dalphus and Ina Simmons Shubert. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Al’s Barber Shop in Honea Path for over thirty years. He was also a member of Centre Lodge # 37 A.F.M.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 68 years of the home are: his daughter, Pat (Tony) Ashley of Honea Path, a brother, Ray Shubert of Greenwood, two sisters, Carolyn Hawdschuh of Greenville and Kara (Joe) Morris of Columbia, two grandchildren, Chris Ashley and Jessica Brown, and a great-granddaughter, Ava Brown. He was predeceased by three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview cemetery.
