Born in Fortuna, Ca. he was a son of the late Edgar and Elizabeth Downing Petersen. He was of the Lutheran Faith and was retired from Anderson School District #2.
Surviving are a son, Mike Petersen and wife Susan of Honea Path, a daughter, Susen Taylor and husband Scott of Spring Hill, Fl., a brother, Richard Petersen of Knoxville, Tn., a sister, Betty Kempe of Sacramento, Ca., and three grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday Sept. 5, 2014 at the Garden of Memories with Rev. Debra Broadwell officiating.
