Born in Anderson county, he was a son of the late Colie Richard Blease and Lillie Mae Norris Ashley. He was retired, having worked in maintenance for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Mr. Ashley was twice married, first to the late Willie Jo Holliday Ashley.

Surviving are one son, Randy Joe Ashley and wife Elizabeth of Belton, eight brothers: John Ashley of Milton, FL, Robert Ashley of Honea Path, William Ashley of Anderson, Grady Norris of Anderson, Manuel Ashley of Iva, Tommy Ashley of Iva, Gary Ashley of Iva, and Donnie Ashley of Greenwood; two sisters: Mary Hughey of Pulaski, TN, and Betty Webb of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren: Dalton Ashley and Shianne Ashley.

Mr. Ashley was predeceased by one brother: Ronnie Dean Ashley; and one sister: Margie Marie Ashley.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 10 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
