Born in Hart County, Ga. she was a daughter of the late Marel “Hammer” and Nina Ricks Lewis. She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church as was retried from textiles.

Surviving are two grandsons, Craig McCarty and wife Sherrie of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bradley S. McCarty of Arizona, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was pre-deceased by a son David McCarty and a grandson, Douglas D. McCarty.
