Lamar Cain

Ware Shoals – Lamar Cain, 88, husband of Lauranette Jones Cain, died Thursday at his home.

Born in Gainesville, Ga. He was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Delilah Collins Cain. He was a Member, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, R.A. Leader, and Choir Member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Gideon’s International, a graduate of Lyman Hall High School and Palmetto Military Academy.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II and was retired from the South Carolina National Guard having served 25 years. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Surviving are  his wife of 67 years of the home, three sons, Walter of Hodges., Ken of Laurens, and Matt of Vienna, Va., three daughters, Diaz Scoggins of Ware Shoals, Candee Langford of Laurens, and Susan Pruitt of Laurens, one brother, Lyndol Cain of Watkinsville, Ga., 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by four brothers Jeff, Leroy, Lanier, and Lowell Cain, two sisters, Maurine McNeal and Montine Fields, and a grandson,  Ryan Martin Cain.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones, Rev. Dan Compton, Mr. Dan Branyon, and Rev. Dr. Floyd Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the First Baptist Church social hall. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Ware Shoals First Baptist General Fund, 30 S.
