Pre-Planning your funeral means writing down your final wishes before they are needed. Your wishes may include service details or may be very specific and include selecting a casket, vault, ministers,floral tributes, and musical selections and providing a fund to cover the costs. Many people are taking advantage of pre-planning their own or their loved ones funeral arrangements.

Also, it gives you the opportunity of selecting the details of your funeral service rather than leaving it up to someone else to decide. Very simply, pre-planning allows you to make informed deccisions and relieves your family of two of the most difficult burdens - arranging your funeral and paying for it.

What Are The Options Of My Pre-Need Funeral Contract?

In South Carolina there are two types of preneed funeral contracts.

  • Revocable - May be changed, transfered, or withdrawn at any time.
  • Irrevocable - May NOT be changed or withdrawn but may be transfered.

What AreThe Funding Options For Pre-Need Funeral Contracts?

  • Trust Deposit - Money paid for your funeral services are deposited in a local bank and interest accrues to the account. These funds will be withdrawn at your death.
  • Insurance Funded - Money paid for your funeral services are used to purchase an insurance policy which will be paid at your death.

With both Trust Deposits and Insurance Policies there is a fee of 20.00 which is paid to the S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs to record the contract and ensure the safety of your funds.
