Venice Smith

Honea Path - Venice Shaw Smith, 88, widow of Homer Smith, of 509 Brickmill Rd., died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at her home.

Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late John William and Pearl Stevenson Shaw. She was of the Baptist faith, and formerly worked in textiles and retail, and retired as a cook for Belton First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons: James Smith of Honea Path, and Clarence Smith of the home; two daughters, Evelyn Smith and husband Wayne of Honea Path, and Judy Garrett of Honea path; one brother, John William Shaw, Jr. of Iva; three sisters, Frances Bryant of Anderson, Bobbie Shaw of Anderson, and Sara Shaw Merck of Central; five grandchildren, Joseph Smith of McCormick, Jeffrey Smith of Istanbul, Turkey; and three who were raised in the home, Michael Burgess of South Haven, Mississippi, Sonya Larocco of Stutgart, Germany, and Barbara Abee of Honea Path; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 28th, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robert Beaver and Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow at The Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home of a son, James Smith, 100 Harvey Dr., Honea Path, and will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolence messages may be left for the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
