Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Fannie Bell Dodson May. She was a member of Donalds Baptist Church. Mrs. May was retired from the Abbeville School District, where she worked as a kindergarten teacher. She was twice married, first to the late Ben Pearman.

Surviving are: a brother, Larry (Mary) Dunlap of Donalds, a brother-in-law, David Hancock of Honea Path, and a sister-in-law, Jenny Dunlap of Donalds.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Lamar Dunlap and David Dunlap and two sisters, Hilda McGee and Ruth Hancock.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Treaster officiating. Private burial will follow in Donalds Baptist Church Cemetery.
