Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Grover David and Christine C. Hancock. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and then in the South Carolina Army National Guard, from which he retired.

He leaves a legacy of servant leadership to his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Tommie Hancock of Greenwood; his daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Bart Miller of Greer; and granddaughter Tara Miller, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law Brett and Hannah Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at their respective homes, and will receive friends Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church, prior to the service. The celebration of life will also be a tribute to our military veterans and active servicemen who are invited to attend the service.
