Born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Olivia Ashley. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church, and was retired from Torrington Company.

Mrs Gilmer is survived by one son: Gary Gilmer (Marilyn) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two daughters: Peggy Maxwell Scott (Keith) of Anderson and Loretta Ashley (Barry) of Honea Path; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two brothers: Leland and Baron Ashley; and five sisters: Vera Gambrell, Annie Bell, Nettie Strickland, Betty Rucker, and Hazel Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes, and will receive friends Saturday at the church, immediately following the funeral service.
