Emma Gunnells

Donalds – Emma Ruth Phillips Gunnells, 96, widow of Ernest Gunnells, of 336 Williamson Hill Road, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at her home.

 

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Tarrant and Fannie Ethel Roark Phillips. She was a member of Broadmouth Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are: four sons, Riley (Linda) Gunnells, Roger (Karen) Gunnells and Robert (Diane) Gunnells, all of Donalds, and Ray (Peggy) Gunnells of Honea Path, three daughters, Mot (Rev. Charles) Caldwell of Hodges, and Nancy (Charlie) Coker and Teasee (Gary) Ashley, all of Honea Path, a brother, Clyde Phillips of Abbeville, four sisters, Betty Jane Malone of Honea Path, Lois Phillips of Anderson, Katie Bell Lollis of Donalds, and Hazel Holliday of Belton, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, and special nephew, Ralph (Marie) Gunnells of Belvedere.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Edna Gunnells, seven brothers, Claude, Bob, Alton, Jim, Furman, David, and Jerry Phillips, and two sisters, Lilly Mae Lollis and Inez Gambrell.

Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Phillips and Rev. Charles Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

The family is at the home and will receive friends 2-4 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Pruitt Hospice, 1510 N.
