Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Robert and Fannie Davis Evans. He was retired from Fluor Daniel where he was a millwright.

He is survived by a son, Ralph Evans of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Anna Eans of Abbeville, one sister, Peggy Childs of Elberton and several grandchildren.
