James Scott

Donalds – James Harold Scott, 91, widower of Cleo Belle Higdon Scott, died Wednesday January, 30, 2019 at Rainey Hospice House.

 

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late John Robert “Bob” and Emma Lucille Hill Scott. He was a member of Donalds Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and coach of the girls youth softball team. Mr. Scott was a former two term Mayor of the Town of Donalds and also served on Town Council. He was a member of Donalds Lodge #23 A.F.M. and was twice retired, first from Riegel Textile Corporation and then from Greenwood Mills. Mr. Scott was a veteran of the US Army, having served his country during WWII in Japan.

Surviving are: his daughter, Jan Scott (John) Latham of Easley; two brothers, Marion R. “Pete” (Nell) Scott of Lake Charles, LA, and Joseph L. (Jeanene) Scott of Houston, TX; a sister, Carolyn Scott Malone of Norcross, GA, two grandchildren, April Latham (Justin) Smith of Taylors, and Alicia Latham, M.D. of Long Island City, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Connor Blake Smith and Ashlyn Grace Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews, including his special “A.D.”, Cheryl Scott Weathers of Saint Marys, GA.

Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, James Michael Scott, a brother, William R. Scott, and a sister, Clara Scott James.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Shorter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Hodges, SC with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating.
