Clarence Edward “Pete” McGrew

Laurens – Clarence Edward “Pete” McGrew, 84, husband of Margaret Revelle McGrew, of Powderhorn Road, died Friday, February 8, 2019 at Laurens County Memorial Hospital.

 Born in Springfield, SC, he was the son of the late Edward Manning and Jewel Bolin McGrew. He was a member and former Deacon of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and a Gideon. Mr. McGrew served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He had served as a Ware Shoals Town Councilman.  He was past Worshipful Master of the Ware Shoals Masonic Lodge #306 A.F.M., a member of the Omar Shrine Temple, and the Order of the Eastern Star Boyd Bobo Chapter #144.

In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. McGrew is survived by two sons, Michael Mcgrew (Krystal) of Laurens, Robert Powers of Boiling Springs, one daughter, Marjorie Burdette (Jamie) of Rock Hill and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Roberts (John Ray) of Charleston, Victoria Burdette of Rock Hill, Ashley McGrew of Greenwood, Braden McGrew and Codi McGrew both of Laurens.

A memorial service with Military Honors for Mr. McGrew will be held Saturday February 16, 2019 at 2PM at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Burdette and Rev. Leon Jones officiating.
