Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Vaughn Young. He formerly worked at Gambrell Logging.

Surviving are: two sons, Seth (Keri) Young and Dendale Young, both of Abbeville; a daughter, Summer (Jamey) Cantrell of Honea Path; two sisters, Jo Patterson of Honea Path and Janice Bridges of Williamston; six grandchildren, Raelyn Cantrell, Christina Young, Tinsley Young, Peyton Ashley, Erik Young and Ethan Young.

Mr. Young is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sudie Norris.
