Hazel Wells

Ware Shoals – Hazel Davis Wells, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 27th at Hospice House in Greenwood after a brief struggle with cancer.

The only child of the late Carrol and Madgie Davis of Princeton, SC, she was a lifetime resident of Ware Shoals. She had a long career and retired from Monsanto Corporation. She went on to attend Piedmont Tec and earn an Associate’s degree in computer programming, working for Park Seed Company as a programmer for some time. Later she began work at Robert’s Tax Service and ultimately became the owner and operator of this business, making many friends and serving the community for many years. Getting hugs from her customers was the happiest part of her work and what she missed most when she retired.

She was the first wife of the late Marion “Billy” Wells, the mother of Jackie Wells (son) and Kathy Wells (daughter) and grandmother to Amanda Wells. Among her most treasured friends were Lynda Lovvorn, James Berley, Joanie Harvey, and Eleanor Rhodes, but she will be missed by scores more whose lives she touched in a myriad of ways.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Parker-White Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 12-1 P.M. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com

Fiercely independent, she lived her life on her own terms right to the very end, and few can make that claim. She will be missed.
