Born in Glennville, GA, he was a son of the late Morgan Cecil and Mary Iona Bacon Powell. He worked for many years as a handyman.

Mr. Powell is survived by three sons: Jimmy Powell of Glennville, GA, Tony Lovell of Anderson, and Tim Lovell of Anderson; four daughters: Shirley Campbell of Anderson, Angela McLeskey of Charleston, Tammy Wasson of Glennville, GA, and Tina Salette of Hinesville, GA; two brothers: Johnnie Powell and wife Elvie of Glennville, GA and Jean Powell of Honea Path; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter: Serena Hendrix.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 19th at Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
