Born in Donalds, he was a son of the late Willie Hughes and Lou Alice Hughes Worley. He was retired from Riegel Textile Co.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a daughter, Cristy Burroughs (Irvin) of Granite Falls, North Carolina, a brother Barry Hughes, six sisters, Martha Lou Maddox, Susan Vaughn, Sharon Hughes, Ann Lay, Shirley Brock, and Linda Burton, a granddaughter, Sarah Burroughs, and two great grandchildren, Ava and Nathan.

Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Sturkie and Rev. Mark Lowe officiating.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 4 to 5 PM Tuesday at Parker-White Funeral Home, Ware Shoals prior to the service.
