Wilbert Coker

Honea Path – Thomas Wilbert Coker, 93, widower of Jackie Colleen Goode Coker, of Mountain Creek Road, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his home.

 

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Thomas Talmadge and Opal Heatherly Coker. He was a member of the former Dry Oak Assembly of God and a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He volunteered with the Belton Rescue Squad for more than 20 years. Wilbert provided the land that River Oaks Resort, a camp for kids, was founded on. He was an avid coon hunter.

Surviving are: a daughter, Carolyn (Trent) Patterson of Honea Path; two brothers, Harold Coker and Larry (Joyce) Coker, both of Pelzer; a son-in-law, Jimmy Holliday of Honea Path; a daughter-in-law, Donna Coker of Anderson; six grandchildren, Josh (Katie) Patterson, Jeremy (Erin) Patterson, Shane Holliday, Terah Coker, Carrie (Jason) Logan, and Jason Coker; seven great-grandchildren, Coker Holliday, Drennan Patterson, Yates McClain, Wila-Bergin McClain, Emma Logan, Cannon Logan, and Colton Logan.

He is preceded in death by, his parents, his wife, his son, Danny Eugene Coker, a daughter, Pamela Jane Coker Holliday, two brothers, Ellis Coker and Doyle Coker, two sisters, Margaret Starnes and Lois Hunicutt, and a grandson, Matt Holliday.

Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, June 22, 2020 at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Charles Heatherly, Rev. Bob Sandler, and Rev. Norman Black officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to River Oaks Retreat, 180 Youth Camp Road, Honea Path, SC 29654. Messages of condolences may be left for the family at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
