Peggy Joyce Stribling Seawright

Peggy Seawright, 88, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Brookdale-Anderson Skilled Nursing Center.

 

She was a resident of Honea Path and the widow of Frank L Seawright.  Peggy was born in Wilkes County, Georgia, to the late Willie Wheeles and William Quinn Stribling. She grew up in Tignall, Georgia, where she was a member of the Tignall Baptist Church.  She graduated from Tignall High School and Lander University, with a BS degree in Commerce/Business Education.  At Lander, she was in the May Court and a national officer in AKG Society.  She married Frank Seawright and taught at Honea Path and Belton High Schools.

Peggy joined the Honea Path Presbyterian Church in 1953, where she was an active member involved in teaching Children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and active in the Presbyterian Women Circle.  She served on many building improvement committees.  She was honored by Foothills Presbytery, as a Senior Superlative in 2007.

Peggy was active in many civic organizations in Honea Path.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Vicki S. Hall (William), daughter-in-law, Leah W. Seawright and two grandchildren Allison and Matthew Seawright. In addition, she is survived by sisters, Barbara S. Carr and Gloria S. Barton (Lennie), niece, Katie Flowers (Bryan) and her great nephew, Anderson Flowers.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Seawright, her son, Quinn Seawright and brother-in-law Kenneth Carr.

A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Deborah Broadwell, pastor of the Honea Path Presbyterian Church for family and close friends at the Honea Path Presbyterian Cemetery on Saturday, November 14th at 1 PM.   Masks are requested and COVID guidelines are to be followed.  No visitation is planned, but those who wish may go by Pruitt Funeral and sign the Book of Memories.
