Born in Abbeville, he was a son of Jimmy Allen of Greenwood and Dorothy Howell Allen of Ware Shoals. He was employed by Clendenin Lumber Company.

Surviving are his parents, his wife of the home, two daughters, Raina Allen and Jolene Allen both of the home, a step-son, Mason Asbury and a step-daughter, Brooke Boyter, both of the home, a brother, Ronnie Allen of Ware Shoals, a sister, Shannon Cockrell (Chris) of Greenwood, and a niece, Jayce Cobb of Ware Shoals.
