Born in Anderson, he was a son of James R. Crosby and the late Nancy Murdock Crosby. He worked formerly in construction and was a member of Cross Hill Church of God.

Surviving are his father of Honea Path, and two brothers, Tony Crosby (Lisa)  of Keystone Heights, FL and Yancy Crosby (Sharon) of Honea Path, a nephew, Lex Crosby, and a niece, Lindsey Crosby. In addition to his mother, he was pre deceased by a niece, Kinsley Crosby.
