Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Thomas Berry and Maggie Lou Pace Davenport. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved outdoor sports, especially horseshoes and fishing.

Surviving are a son, Thomas Davenport (Dawn) of Ware Shoals, three daughters, Carolyn Davenport of Vale, NC, Ellen Tierce of Williamston, and Patricia Ann Black (Jimmy) of NC, one brother, R. Dean Davenport of Ware Shoals, one sister, Sarah Fortner of Stanley, NC, 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Virginia “Gin” Davenport Bryan, and one brother, Arthur Leroy Davenport.

Graveside services will be held at 3 PM on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Ware Shoals Cemetery with Catlin Tierce officiating.
