Born in Blunt County, TN, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Stella Mae Roach Gattis. She retired from the textile industry. Mary loved fishing and gardening. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are: a son, Robin Thompson and wife Linda of Honea Path; a grandson, Forrest Thompson; and a step-grandson, James Clouse.  

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ricky Don Thompson; three brothers, Oliver, Bobby, and Fred Gattis; and three sisters, Thelma, Helen, and Dolly Gattis.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donovan Campbell officiating.
