John Bonds

Honea Path – John Henry Bonds, Jr., 72, devoted husband of Sandra Jean Stewart Bonds, of North Shirley Avenue, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

 

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late John Henry Sr. and Garnie Mae Mayfield Bonds. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints-Anderson Ward where he volunteered as a Family Search Missionary. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Michelin after over 28 years of service. John served his community as a paramedic for more than 15 years and was a State Constable having served in Honea Path, Anderson and Abbeville Counties. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 14, Disabled American Veterans Unit #40 and Vietnam Veterans of America.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 54 years of the home are: three sons, Mike (Shannon) Bonds, David (Beth) Bonds, and Frank Maly, all of Honea Path; two daughters, Paula (Jesse) Maly of Honea Path, and Melanie (Keith) Stoutenburg of Irmo; ten grandchildren, Dr. Meridith (Matthew) Odom, Devon Vickery, Zack (Jessica) Vickery, Kendall Stoutenburg, Kael Stoutenburg, Kevin ( Taylor) Bonds, Angel Smith, Elijah Smith, Zach Smith, and Gabby Bonds; five great-grandchildren, Bella Vickery, Ellie Vickery, Leighton Bonds, Riley Bonds, and Hunter Bonds; and two special nephews, Jarrad Stewart and Christopher Stewart.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Benson Lee Bonds and Earl Bonds.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Harold Dial and Mr. Bob Steadman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
