Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Wade Hampton and Anne Louise Lane Hyatt. He was a member of Christ Episcopal church in Meggett, SC, and worked in retail.

Mr. Hyatt is survived by his son Anthony Rex Hyatt, Jr. of Charleston, his three brothers: Robert Charles Hyatt (Eileen), Richard Allen Hyatt, and Roessler Timothy Lane, and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son Brandon Lee Hyatt and his brother Raymond Alexander Hyatt.
