Born in Mullins, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys Simmons Britt.

She worked as a cake and home decorator at Black Lion in Pineville, N.C.

In addition to her husband of the home, Mrs. Elliott is survived by her son Thomas William McDowell of Honea Path, her brother Frank Britt (JoAnne) of Concord, N.C., her sister Dorothy Kirkland of Atlanta, GA., two grandc hildren: Kevin McDowell of Mint Hill, N.C., Jeff McDowell, Concord, N.C., and one great grandchild: Chloe McDowell.
