Edith Hawkins Vann

Anderson - Edith Nell Hawkins Vann, age 88, widow of Willard Vann, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born December 17, 1934, in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Charley Mattison and Lola Belle Ashley Hawkins. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She worked at Honea Path Shirtmakers and retired from Blair Mill. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing in her spare time.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula Vann and Phyllis Dunn and her husband, Charles, all of Anderson; two grandchildren, Haley Payne and her husband, Nathan, of Easley, and Elliott Vann Dunn and his wife, Sarah, of Belton; and four great-grandchildren, Everett and Alaina Payne, Leah and Alexis Dunn. She was the last surviving member of the Charley M. Hawkins family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lucia Jones, Cleo Wood, Margaret Kay, and Dorothy Creamer; and brothers, Lanson Hawkins, Clarence Hawkins, Claude Hawkins, Warren Hawkins, Leo Hawkins, James Hawkins, and Charles Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday March 7, 2023 at Long Branch Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Adkins and Rev. Wayne Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
