Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Jodie Carlton and Julia Ann “Judy” Griffin Hodges. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and Lander University where he was employed for many years. He was an avid animal lover and if you knew Bill , you knew that he always had a dog by his side, specifically his beloved pugs.

Surviving of the home are two daughters: Anna and Maddison Hodges, four grandchildren: Harley, Channing, Chamberland, Neveah, and two nieces: LeAnne and Lyndsey Hodges, and his beloved dog, Caroline.

He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Jodie Carlton Hodges, Jr.
