Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ed Junior and Sarah Hughes Gambrell. He was retired from his work as a truck driver, and attended Donalds Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gambrell is survived by his two daughters: Amanda Darby (Chad) of Honea Path and April Black (Stevie) of Belton; eight grandchildren: Taylor Black, Peyton Black, Madison Knight, Morgan Knight, Aiden Knight, Hailey Darby, Cody Darby and Kinsley Darby; and two great-grandchildren: Blakelyn and Dawson Darby.
He was preceded in death by his son Chris Gambrell, his brother Mike Gambrell, his sister Sheila Fountain and his grandson Austin Gambrell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Donalds Church of God with Rev. James Ray Lollis and Mr. Bobby Gambrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.
