Gastonia, NC –Sandra Bell Griffith, 79, widow of Walter Frank Griffith of Gastonia, died Monday, June 23, 2025 at Morningside of Gastonia after a battle with Alzheimer’s for many years.Born in Greenwood, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee, Sr. and Frances Ann Timms Bell. She loved her family and friends and had a special place for all animals both large and small.

A graduate of Ware Shoals High School, she received a BS in Education from Winthrop College and a MA in Education from Appalachian State University. She taught elementary school for 40 years, serving Gaston County School District and retiring from York County, SC School District. She later volunteered  and enjoyed  working with the Schiele Museum and the Public Library of Gastonia.

Surviving are a son, Michael Glenn Griffith (Donna) of Gastonia, a brother, Robert Bell (Lona) of Hodges, SC, a sister Karen Bell (Harold) of Union, SC, and a grandson, Carson Lee Griffith.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister Martha Bell Surles.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Friday June 27, 2025 at Greenville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Donalds, SC.
