Born in Richmond County, GA, he weas a son of Lillian Darlene Siegler Godfrey and the late Roger Dale Godfrey, Sr. He worked in manufacturing as a maintenance technician.

In addition to his mother Darlene Godfrey, Roger is survived by his two sons Roger James “R J” Godfrey of Aiken, and Mason Godfrey of Honea Path; his daughter Lillian Godfrey of Aiken, his brother Michael Thomas “Madcat” Feagin of Laurens, and his special friend Lisa McCoy.
