Born in Clarksville,West Virginia to the late Charles and Martha Harris, he served the U. S. Army for 20 years, retiring as Staff Sergeant and worked with the U.S. Postal Service as carrier and retired as postmaster for Ware Shoals Post Office. He was of the Baptist faith. He was also member  and Past Master of Independant Lodge #23 A.F.M. of Donalds and was a member of the Hejaz Shrine.

Surviving are his wife: Penny Louise Kennedy Harris of the home,  two sons, Donald Jerry “D.J.” Harris of Honea Path, Stephen Charles Harris of Donalds:  two brothers, Chuck Harris (Frida)  of Seneca, Ron Harris of Hammond, IN; one sister, Joan Marie Harris of Hammond, IN; six grandchildren, Paige, Madison, Makayla, Jacob, Lilly and Charles, two great grandchildren, his  mother in law, Louise Kennedy and a sister in law, Devita McGregor of Honea Path. 

Along with his Father and Mother, he is predeceased by one brother: James Harris and father in law, Jerry E. Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Jason Sturkie officiating. Burial will follow at Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery with Military and Masonic Rites
