Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Robert and Effie Lollis Gambrell. He was a member of Donalds Church of God. He was a US Army veteran and was a retired small engine mechanic.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 69 years of the home are: two daughters, Sue Ross and Sherry (Del) Gorman both of Honea Path; two sisters, Clara Bell Vaughn of Honea Path and Helen Sparks of Belton; six grandchildren, Wayne Ross, Linda Ross, Timothy Gorman, Trevor Gorman, Cade Gambrell and Kinsley Gambrell; and four great-grandchildren, Bradley Ross, Jacob Ross, Stephanie Ross and Tatum Gambrell.
Mr. Gambrell was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Thomas Jack Gambrell; three brothers, A.C. Gambrell, Dewey Gambrell and Ray Gambrell; and three sisters, Ethel Vaughn, Mae Arnold and Mary Lou Strickland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday April 3, 2026 at Donalds Church of God with Rev. James Ray Lollis officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service.
