Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Harold James and Polly Singleton Robinson. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Vietnam War. He received an AA degree in Welding from Tri-County Tech and retired from Michelin of Greenville. He was a former member of the MARC Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter before golf took over later in life.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Christopher Joe Robinson (Stephanie) of Mt. Pleasant and Michael Robert Robinson (Brittney) of Charlotte, and three grandchildren, Christopher Joe “C.J.” Robinson, Jr., Aiden Patrick Robinson, and Elexa Corvin Robinson.

In addition to his wife, Mattie, and his parents he was predeceased by a brother Jack Wilton Robinson.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday May 12, 2026 at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson with Rev. David Cox officiating.
