Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Joseph Benjamin and Gracie Estelle Norris Taylor. He attended Donalds Baptist Church and was retired from LaFrance Industries of Pendleton. He had attended Six Mile Elementary School (Possum College).

Surviving are his wife, Earline, of the home, three sons, Jason Taylor (Lee Ann) of Honea Path, Jerry Taylor (Susan) of Townville, and Michael Taylor of North Carolina, three brothers, James Taylor (Linda) of Six Mile, Lindon Taylor (Louise) of Six Mile, and Roy Taylor (Linda) of Myrtle Beach, two sisters, Reba Shedd of Gray Court and Joyce Whitlock of Six Mile, six grandchildren, Katie, Lucas, Jesse, Michael, Carey, and Aria, and ten great-grandchildren, Andrew, Dakota, Gabriel, Autumn, Colt, Gracie, Mark, Daniel, Annaleise, and Colt.

He was predeceased by his parents, a grandson, Buddy Taylor, and a great-grandson, Toby Morgan.
