Born in Anderson County he was a son of the late Willie Frank and Frances Vaughn Hatcher. He was member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ware Shoals, and was a retired supervisor for Milliken Honea Path Plant.

Eddie was formerly of Honea Path, a true outdoorsman; he enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing and had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. He also loved working in his garden and was especially well known for growing peppers, something he took great pride in and enjoyed selling for many years. He had a longtime interest in firearms as well and enjoyed buying, selling, and trading guns throughout the years. He shared that interest with his family, teaching them to shoot safely and responsibly from an early age and creating many memories together along the way.

As much as he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his many other interests, nothing meant more to him than his family. He loved being surrounded by those he loved, and time spent with his family was always what he treasured most. Whether they were in the woods, on the water, in the garden, or simply gathered together, being with his family brought him his greatest joy.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean, of the home, a son and daughter, Scott and Edwina Hatcher of Hodges, three grandchildren, Kalen Hatcher Mathis (Nick) of Hodges, Chelsea Hatcher Smith (Daniel) of Waterloo, and Max Edward Hatcher (Melanie) of Honea Path, and three great-grandchildren, Ember Sage Smith, Jensen Cade Mathis, and Anston Mack Smith.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother John Frank Hatcher and a sister Linda Sizemore.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, Ware Shoals with Rev. Greg Nix and Rev. Lamar Babb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
