Solomon “Sol” Youmans

Ware Shoals – Solomon “Sol” Yomans, 63, husband of Frankie Smith Yomans, of 1036 Turkey Creek Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at his home. He was born in Swainsboro, Ga., a son of the late Hubert Alton and Julia Ella Jenkins Youmans. He was retired from Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Laurens and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Youmans served in the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of the D.A.V. of Greenwood.

Surviving besides his wife of the home are two sons, Richard Youmans, Millen, Ga. and Joel Holbrooks, Ware Shoals: two daughters, Janice H. Whitted, Donalds and Jackie Ellis, Statesboro, Ga; four brothers, Lott Youmans, Stillmore, Ga., George Youmans, Twin City, Ga, John Youmans, Statesboro, Ga., Robbie Youmans, Twin City, Ga.:
two sisters, Sallie Beth Farmer, Swainsboro, Ga. And Nancy Bailes, Swainsboro, Ga.; also eight grandchildren

A daughter, Anita H. Gunter and a grandson, Bradley Gunter, Jr. pre-deceased him.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Hans Wunch, Rev. Lamar Babb and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ware Shoals Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Stewart, Mark Smith, B.J. Smith, Andrew Smith, Jamey Smith, Timothy Smith, Chris Smith, Jody Youmans and David Coats.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fred O’Dell Sunday School Class.

The family is at the home of Mrs. J. Frank Smith and will receive friends Friday at Parker-White Funeral Home from 7-9 pm.
