FRANCES OWENS


Ware Shoals, S.C. - Sara Frances Martin Owens, widow of Tommie D.”Buster” Owens passed away at the home of her daughter Friday, August 21, 2009. She was born in Laurens County, a daughter of the late Norwood M.and Rennie Jacks Martin. She was a graduate of Hickory Tavern High School and had made her home in Ware Shoals for seventy five years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Martha Douglass Abrams and husband, David, Mary Emma Rauton, Greenwood, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grand children, including Sara Owens reared in the home.
Also one brother, Thaddeus (Buddy) Martin and wife Genevieve, Greenville, one sister, Mary Ann Martin, Gray Court, two sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Sue Martin both of Laurens and loving nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Polly O. Abrams, four brothers, John C.,Tommy M., Ellis F., and Herbert J. Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 pm at The First Presbyterian Church, Ware Shoals with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Rev. Wayne Wicker and Rev. Dan Compton will officiate.

The families will be at their respective homes and will receive friends Sunday, 2-3 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 542, Ware Shoals, S.C. 29692 or to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, S.C.
