Born in Abbeville county, he was a son of the late William Clarence Gambrell and Margie Moore Gambrell Godfrey. He was a member of Honea Path 1st Baptist Church and was in supervision with Riegel Textiles for over 34 years and was retired from Wells Aluminum.
Surviving are his wife of the home, one daughter; Judy Gambrell Clarke of Piedmont, one son; Ricky Lamar Gambrell and one step-son; James William Jones both of Honea Path, four grandchildren; Amber Jones Childers, Matraca Jones, Christy Clarke and Jason Burroughs, one great-grandchild; Andrew Burroughs. He was predeceased by a sister; Doris Saxon.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday at Chiquola Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Childers and Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Entombment will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum.
