J. T. Snipes

Honea Path – John Tinsley Snipes, 85, of 5010 Shady Grove Road, husband of Virginia Chasteen Snipes, died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at National Health Care in Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late John Eugene and Ethel Lee Tinsley Snipes.  He was a member of the Honea Path Presbyterian Church and the Honea Path Lions Club.  He was partners with William F. “Bill” Snipes in Snipes Construction and was former co-owner with son Don Snipes in Snipes Oil Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are:  one son Don E. Snipes and wife Charlene of Honea Path; two daughters, Diane Snipes Ellison and husband Earl of Honea Path and Jane Snipes Gambrell and husband Joe of Belton; one brother, William F. “Bill” Snipes of Greenwood; one sister, Susie Snipes Owens of Lexington; six grandchildren, Greg Snipes, Rene Richey and John Michael Ellison all of Honea Path, Angie Snipes Lloyd and Michelle McAlister of Belton and Amy Snipes Bell of Simpsonville and fifteen great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, Charles T. Snipes.

Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM Monday at the Garden of Memories with Rev. Deborah Broadwell officiating.    The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside.
