Margie A. Ashley

Donalds – Marjorie Marie Ashley Ashley, 95, widow of William Henry Ashley, Sr., of 591 Drake Rd, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday December 27, 2011, on the eve of her 96th birthday, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late R.E. and Ethel Page Ashley. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church where she taught in B.T.U. and the children’s department for many years. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, majoring in sweet potatoes. She was a former seamstress and homemaker who dearly loved her family.

Surviving are: three sons, Boyce Ashley of the home and companion Renee McElhannon, Billy Ashley (Betty) and Rex Ashley ( Debra) both of Donalds; two daughters, Ouita Todd ( Monte) of Anderson and Julie Hall Rauton (Ken) of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, Matthew Ashley ( Laura) of Mt. Pleasant, Tyler and Ashley Rauton both of Abbeville, Tracy Todd ( Shannon) of Anderson, Russell Todd ( Christy ) of Chapin, Chuck Ashley (Pam )of Goose Creek, Pam Griffin ( David )of Anderson, Theresa Wilson of Donalds, Wendy Wilson of Honea Path, and Angie Causley ( Mike) of Abbeville; eleven great-grandchildren, Deidre Kelly, Jessica Griffin, Boyce Wilson (Pamela), Robyn Wilson Smith (Brad), Ryan Ashley (Denise), Dixie Wilson Ross (Steven), Marjorie Todd, Banks Todd, Allie Todd, Zachary Todd, and Molly Todd; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving dog, Fluffy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Ashley Hall; six brothers, Willie, Calvin, Preston, Foster, Bunny, and Doc Ashley; and one sister, Corrie Smidth.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday December 30, 2011 at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Mize and Rev. Tony Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
