Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred K. and Cleo Balentine Hughes. She was a lifetime member of Harmony United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Tavern Sportswear. She also attended Ware Shoals schools.
Surviving is a daughter, Betty H. Derrick and husband, Jerry of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by two brothers, Willis Hughes and Arthur (Benny) Hughes, a sister Martha Herzog and a grandson, Jason Derrick.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 PM at Harmony United Methodist Church with Rev. Tina Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11-12 PM prior to the service at the church.
