Mary Penley

Hodges - Mary Geraldine Balthazar Penley, 86 of 2611 Sam Hodges Road died Friday, March 23, 2012, at National Health Care of Laurens.  She was born in Kankakee, Ill., a daughter of the late Fred and Emma Benjamin Balthazar.  She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church including the Golden Agers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Penley was retired from General Foods Corp.

 

She was twice married, first to the late Clyde Whitaker and to the late Roy Penley.

Surviving her are:  one son, Joseph Whitaker and wife Luann of Greenville; two daughters, Cheryl Scruggs and husband Fred of Hodges, Marsha Shoven and husband, Dave of Piedmont; one brother, Joseph Mitchell, Elkart, Indiana; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 PM at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Dublin officiating.  Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Agers Sunday School Class. The families are at their respective homes and will receive friends Monday 11:30 to 1PM at the church.
