Robert O. Smith

Honea Path – Robert Olin Smith, 81, formerly of Honea Path, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.

 

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Robert Simpson and Minnie Todd Smith.  He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force, served in Korea and Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.  He was a faithful Gamecock Club member.

Surviving are:  one sister, Marie Smith Risner and husband James of Honea Path, nieces and special caregiver, Judith Wood and husband Jeff of Greenwood; nieces Linda Whittington and husband James, Rebecca Phillips and husband Robert, Bobbie Jo Ashley and husband Roger all of Honea Path, Sandy Dacus and husband Allen of Easley and Shirley Malone of Anderson; numerous great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews; and a special great nephew Bill Jacobs.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Roy Smith and James Milton Smith; a sister, Bernice Hughes, and a niece Joyce Jacobs.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Bryan and Rev. Paul Cooper officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Eastview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1-3PM prior to the service.
