Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jim Andy and Martha Temples Burton. He was retired from Chiquola Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was twice married, first to the late Marie Butler Burton and to the late Julia Zyla Burton.
Surviving are one son, Johnny Ray (Sherry) Burton of Ware Shoals, one daughter, Debbie (Mike) Coleman of Hodges, one sister, Lura Fisher, of Honea Path, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a son, Gary Burton and a sister, Linda Faye Gaines.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012, in the Parker White chapel at 2 PM with Rev. Mark Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens.The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday, 12:30 to 2 at Parker-White Funeral Home.
