Robert and Bertha Beasley

Honea Path – Robert Lee, Jr., 81, and his wife of 62 years, Bertha Kay Beasley, 80, of 126 Eastview St., died Thursday at their home.

 

Born in Due West, Mr. Beasley was a son of the late Robert L., Sr. and Claudia Davis Beasley. Born in Anderson County, Mrs. Beasley was a daughter of the late Millard Grubbs and Betty Lee Woods Kay.

Mr. and Mrs. Beasley were both members of the Honea Path First Baptist Church.

Mr. Beasley was retired from Milliken, Honea Path Plant, and was a member of Center Lodge #37 A.F.M. He was also a Redman and a former member of the Honea Path Rescue Squad, and former owner of High Point Grocery and Snack Bar.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Lee Beasley of Hodges, a daughter, Sandra Kaye Beasley of Maudlin, a goddaughter raised in the home, Martha Hall of Pickens, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. They were both pre-deceased by a grandson, Caleb Michael Beasley Turner.

Mr. Beasley was also survived by a step-brother, Calvin Pressley of  Buffington, S.C. and two half-sisters, Janie Beasley Bowie of Abbeville and Sara Alice Beasley Fredrick of Greenwood. He was pre-deceased by a half-brother, Howard Beasley and a half sister, Eunice Beasley Ashley.

Mrs. Beasley was retired from School District #2, Anderson and Honea Path and also worked in the lunchroom at BHP High School.

Mrs. Beasley was also survived by a brother, Dennis Kay of Honea Path and a sister, Delores Kay Hawkins of Belton.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Sunday at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody and Rev. Justin Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
