Born in Salem, SC, he was a son of the late Jesse James Phillips and Margie Lay Phillips.  He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and was retired from Woodside Mill in Fountain Inn.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and his mother are:  three sons, Chris Phillips of Greenville, Jim Phillips of Piedmont and Michael Phillips of the home; two brothers, Ronnie and Ralph Phillips of Princeton; four sisters, Charlotte Robinson of Belton, Patricia Dyal of Newberry, Rita Hester of Pelzer and Nancy Stone of Winsboro and five grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Saturday at Columbia Baptist Church with Rev. Scottie Hendricks officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 PM at the church.    Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
