Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Elsie B. Cooper. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and was a seamstress at Oxford Industries.

Surviving are a son, George Earl Burton Jr. and wife Arlene of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Elsie B. Sorrells and husband Mike of Chapin, two brothers, Erskine Cooper and wife Beth of Indiana and Gerald Cooper and wife Alice of Greenville, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Rachel Ann Burton, and two brothers, Lamar and Leonard Cooper, and a sister, Ostelle Brigman.

Funeral services will be held 3PM Wednesday, December, 12, 2012, at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Patrick and Rev. Leon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
